JANICE MARINELLI
President, Disney-ABC Domestic Television

Janice Marinelli serves as president of Disney-ABC Domestic Television (DADT), the domestic distribution arm of the Walt Disney Company. DADT is an industry leader, providing motion pictures and television programming to a wide array of media platforms, including pay television, basic cable, broadcast television, video-on-demand, pay-per-view, mobile, broadband and digital technologies. She has served in this role since 1999.

Under her direction, Disney-ABC Domestic Television’s pay television and interactive media division licenses current motion picture releases and library titles from The Walt Disney Studios to pay television, pay-per-view, video-on-demand and emerging technologies. DADT is a leader in the rapidly growing pay-per-view and video-on-demand arenas, generating key movie output deals with a wide range of distributors and platforms, including cable MSOs such as Comcast, telcos such as Verizon and satellite distributors such as DirecTV. The division capitalizes on its theatrical properties by pursuing licensing agreements with a spectrum of new media vehicles such as Microsoft’s Xbox, Vudu, Inc. and Vongo. In addition, DADT continues to exclusively license its films in pay television to Starz/Encore.

Disney-ABC Domestic Television also provides feature films and top-notch movie packages to basic cable and broadcast television. Recent high profile sales include the box-office blockbusters “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End” and “Wild Hogs,” in addition to the critically-acclaimed “The Queen.” DADT’s current slate of broadcast and cable packages includes Buena Vista 10 and Imagination 10.

Disney-ABC Domestic Television delivers the best in off-net programming under Marinelli’s leadership, bringing a host of break-out primetime favorites to broadcast syndication and basic cable. Among the most recent high-profile sales are “Desperate Housewives” and “Grey’s Anatomy.” With clearances averaging 95 percent, “According to Jim” and “Scrubs” are entering their sophomore seasons in national syndication. In addition, DADT most recently licensed the off-network rights for the popular primetime reality show “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” while “Lizzie McGuire” and “Even Stevens” made their mark in syndication as the first original programs from Disney Channel licensed to basic cable.

Disney-ABC Domestic Television’s current first-run lineup includes “Live with Regis and Kelly,” celebrating 20 seasons in syndication, as well as “Who Wants To Be a Millionaire,” with Meredith Vieira, and the movie review show “Ebert and Roeper.”

Marinelli joined Disney-ABC Domestic Television (formerly known as Buena Vista Television) in 1985 as an account executive. She later served as director of Sales, Western Division, before assuming the role of senior vice president of Sales. She was named executive vice president in 1996 and president in 1999.

A native of New York, Marinelli is a graduate of St. John’s University. She is married to Tom Mazza and they have three children.
